One Quibble- The listener who asked for help said that he was interested in N-Trak- which is an established organization that has standards for module building. They REQUIRE Atlas track interfaces between modules. T-Trak which is a seperate sub-species of N-Trak REQUIRES Uni-Track interfaces between modules. Both have websites. Both have local clubs where a beginning modeler can learn skills and develop friendships.
Putting down somebody who only has space for a module or is uncertain of his/her interests in the hobby is patronizing and should in an ideal world not be engaged in by any of us. That we do- is to admit we are human, and can only strive for perfection.
Somebody who has to make hundreds, if not thousands of miniature trees to achieve a semblance of belivabilty or acceptance in their own mind of a 'model' railroad, cannot, should not be belittling our Japanese fellow modelers, nor should we strive to be 'purists'. My favorite magazine; N Scale Review- has featured entire basement filling Uni-Track layouts- where scenery has been discarded in favor of track and trains. Who is to say that one or the other is the 'correct' way to model?
